Deveining Shrimps/Prawns

I have actually deveined a shrimp before but like the basic tomato sauce post I figured I need to create a separate entry regarding deveining a shrimp.

Deveining shrimp is easy but there are steps that are often overlooked here in the Philippines.

First, prepare your shrimps.

Remove the heads first.

Then remove the shells.

Now, make an incision on top of the head down to the tail.

Remove the vein.

After removing the vein, make a small cut at the tip of the tail.

Scrape the dirt particles off the tail using your knife.

Then tada! Deveined shrimps.

See how much shit I have removed? Yuck.

there is a method in which you dont have to cut into the shrimp mismo. kasi when you make an incision, parang butterflied na yan db? we devein our shrimps without making that incision 🙂
